Dooars – A Gateway of Beauty

If you are game for an exciting jungle adventure this summer, you will definitely like to head towards “Dooars”. Dooars is situated in the district of Jalpaiguri at the state of West Bengal in India. Dooars is illustrious for its eternal beauty which is very much influenced the great Himalayan grandeur as it is placed in the foothills of the sub-Himalaya. The range of Dooars flows from the Tista river to its west to the Sankosh river to its east. The entire region is more 40 km by 130 km. Most of Dooars fall in the district of Jalpaiguri though its range goes much beyond that.

The “Dooars” is derived from ‘doors’ as Dooars aka Duars is a major national and international gateway of India. It connects west Bengal with North Eastern Indian territories. It also connects India with Bhutan. Dooars starts from the Himalayas and goes until the green plains of West Bengal and Bangladesh. Dooars possesses a huge range of impenetrable forests which are loaded with wildlife. The prattling rivers, endless tea gardens and tiny ethnic establishments compose a mesmerizing traveler destination.

The major specialty of Dooars is its wildlife sanctuaries. The noted ones include Tiger Reserve at Buxa, National Park at Gorumara, Jaldapara Sanctuary and the wildlife sanctuary at Chapramari. The sanctuaries are rich in an enthralling variety of singular fauna and flora. The enormous texture of gigantic trees is the refuge of so many various orchids. The forests echoed with birds singing and wild animals calling create an out-and-out heaven for nature lovers and eco-tourism admirers.

Uganda Calling

Heat is what comes to your mind when you consider visiting equatorial Africa, the heat that blazes, sticks and stifles. However, the situation is quite different in Uganda where the climate is much milder than the rest of Africa, sometimes it is even out-and-out chilly.

The capital city of Kampala consists of 1.5 million people but feels more congested for its liking. At times, it feels so crowded that it becomes difficult to carry the luggage through. The Ugandans seem to have a cool temperament and somewhat indifferent. These people squeeze themselves in to Matatus, the other name for public minibus here in Uganda.

The beauty of the country is, however, simply enchanting. The incredibly beautiful Ssesse Islands and the unbelievably blue water of Lake Victoria are sure to take one’s breath away for sure. That must be the way Nature welcomes the world to Uganda. What seems to be indifference among the Ugandans is, more than often, turns out to be modesty, humility and composure. Most Ugandans do not prefer to make the first move but, once it is made, they are among the warmest and kindest people on earth.

The biggest highlight of visiting Uganda can be the gorilla trek in the incredibly thick forest of Bwindi, which needs a permit in advance. Visitors do not frequent these places so it often becomes a unique experience to move amid the incredible ambiance of the impenetrable jungle.

The hardships of the journey make Uganda a favorite destination in East Africa for many of the visitors.

Eating On Bangkok Streets

It is not difficult to take pleasure in some tasty bites anywhere on the streets of Bangkok. There are vendors with food available at every other corner of any street. Thai food remains to be one of the most widely accepted cuisines in the world for its taste and healthy perspective.

What you can have on breakfast: it is great to start the day with fresh fruits which are widely available on Bangkok streets. $.20 will fetch a big chunk papaya, watermelon or pineapple. It will be nice to go straight for some noodles as this is one of their specialties. The same price will get you the same. If you are in a mood to eat continental, you can go for omelet with rice for the same price, $.20. Having a bottle of water with added minerals always helps. It costs approximately $.12.

What you can have on lunch: You may prefer to have your lunch stretched out for over an hour. You can start with freshly squeezed juice in lieu of $.20. You can go for a chunk of yellow watermelon later on, which will cost you again $.20. You must be getting sick of noodles by now. A Falafel will provide you the much desired break from noodles. Once you feel pampered, go for the sandwich with a banana split for around $1.20.

What you can have on dinner: It is difficult to resist noodles for a longer time. $.33 will get you the delicious Pad Thai along with egg. Moving around the streets of Bangkok will definitely make you thrity for a beer. Chang beer (large) is a probable choice for $.92. It is only 6.6% alcohol so nothing much to worry about for the aftermath.

For travelers world over the first stop on their trip to China would be the city which has the Great Wall of China and is the Capital of the modern China. This is China’s capital of art and culture and perfectly represents what china stands for and will give you the kind of mystical experience that you are looking for from the dragon infested country.

Beijing has been the capital of four Chinese dynasties and is the most stunning city you will ever see in terms of the historical architectures which have been built here since 500 years and much earlier. Japanese Treat: Hokkaido

If you are the kind of guy who has a dream of visiting the mystical place called Japan, then read along. I have finally fulfilled my life time dream of visiting Japan. If you want to see the real Japan and not the modern technologically futuristic Japan, then head out the Hokkaido. This is the least developed state in Japan and is mostly covered with farming lands and National Parks. This place more or less looks like you are in Switzerland or Spain’s wonderful hill side.

Hokkaido is separated from the rest of Japan by sea. It is an Island located to the north of Japan and is the northern most part of this place. The destinations to see in this place are numerous. You could start your visit from the many beautiful and fascinating cities of Hokkaido. Abashir is on such city which is mostly a fishing port. It also has the famous Japanese prison in this town which is worth one visit. Or if you want to absorb the Japanese history, then head out to hakodate. This is the oldest and the most Historical city of Japan. This place was once also the capital of the Ezo Republic. There are many more cities which are worth visiting and I will surely see each one of them before going back home. And yeah the food is different and in my regards is excellent. But my friends prefer the Japanese Fast food home instead.

African Adventure

If you happen to be one of the lucky few people who are in Africa to support your favorite football team, then you cannot miss these few things that are very important for one to get the full African experience. These are simple things to do which you can do at a low cost.

Riding an huge bird is not something most people would dream about but this is not just any bird, it is the strongest and the biggest bird alive. It takes a lot of skill to ride an Ostrich but anyone is allowed to take a go at it and try their luck in Oudts-hoorn, Karoo. Staying on top of a huge tree is another out of the line thing you can do here for an incredible experience. Tree house lodging is a fantastic ecofriendly idea and you can find many lodges which follow this type of lodging. If you are a nature lover, then you cannot miss seeing the wild coast. This is other most picturesque locations on the planet and has a breathtaking shoreline. But this place is only travelled by foot since no vehicles can reach here. You can also meet the locals here who are very unique and friendly. Take a dip with the penguins near Cape Town in Boulders-Beach for a completely different kind of thrill. Or if penguins are too friendly for you, then why not try the great white sharks in the same area near Cape Town. Try out cage Shark diving.

Donegal: Irelands end

I took a wrong bus when I wanted to travel to Donegal and ended in Dublin. At least I reached there when the Guiness Blues Festival was going on and enjoyed it for the next 6 days. After this I made sure that I was on the right bus which will take me to Donegal. Donegal is what Ireland was a hundred years back and before that time. It has a magical Gaelic heritage attached to it and has a weird attraction. This is the northernmost place in Ireland and completely removed from the rest of the Ireland.
This place is not that popular among tourists as other places such as Galway and Dublin, but the few visitors who visit here help in getting twice as many by word of mouth. This is every hiker’s paradise. It has the largest cliffs in England, the Slieve League Cliffs. There are many hollow forts and ruins that belonged to the ancient Gaels. For accommodation you can choose from many hotels and hostels which you will find scattered around the towns of Donegal and Latterkenny. This place provides the no frills real Ireland that you need to take along with the music filled and party rich Dublin.

Europe from Bath, Somerset

I was down with a bad infection before I decided to make a trip to the town of Bath. This tourist friendly town is present in the town of Somerset district. I had been to Bath before but for only an afternoon and liked it very much. Hence I decided to take a second trip to this town to do justice to this beautiful historic place.

The cost of travelling to Bath by train from Leeds and the journey takes a very long time. But there is another way to make it cheaper by buying two separate APEX return tickets from London. This helps in cutting the journey into two parts and saving pounds. When in Bath you can opt for renting a hostel room while you are staying there. There are many charity organizations which provide low cost hostel rooms for free. There are many places to visit in this historic town like the circus, The Royal Crescent and the Bath Assembly Rooms. This place is famous for its numerous spa’s and baths, hence the name Bath. There are many other things you can do in this town like visiting the restaurants and cafés.

Chile: Startling Contrasts

Chile is a South American country that is found next to the long range of Andes Mountains. This is a slender country that has many active volcanoes and is a favorite nature travel destination. It is been called and geographic extravaganza because of its unique topography. This country has the driest desert in the world along with the Alaskan type of climate in Patagonia. There are many ghost towns in this place. It is possible to ski and surf on the same day in this weird and fascinating country.

The main cities like Valparaiso boast of many museums and is a fairly inexpensive city. The only thing costly here is the high accommodation rates in hotels, which you can pass instead of choosing hostels and lodges which do not have high rates. You can travel throughout the city by paying one dollar fat and see most of the city. You have multiple and delicious choices of foods and Americans will feel just like home with the cuisine followed here. The food costs are very cheap here.

If your are the nature buff then you can opt for many of the things available here like mountain climbing, surfing, skiing, whitewater rafting, fishing, scuba diving, and many other activities.

Sri Lanka is an incredibly diverse and culturally rich country with lots of do and places to see. It is a surprisingly cheap travel destination with low cost to luxurious accommodation options available. The food here is delicious and closely resembles Indian food.
